An old creative director reached out to me with a unique proposal. He and a team of developers were building seven custom LLMs designed to take on the roles of advertising industry creatives, streamlining the creative process, generating ideas quickly, scanning the market to avoid conflicting campaigns, and offering data-driven insights for creative solutions.
They needed someone to build their initial tool, and I was tasked with conducting extensive user research to design the most useful tools in the simplest way possible. My role was to create a process flow that would make sense to users who had never interacted with a tool of this kind, while displaying large amounts of data in a clean and engaging manner.
The challenge was to guide users through the 10 phases of a build while giving them the flexibility to enter content in any order. This was achieved through a streamlined process flow with processing dialogues that informed users as information was formatted by the LLM. Users had the ability to jump to other phases—or even other projects—while the processing indicator remained discreetly on screen. This approach enhanced both user productivity and time spent in the product.
"Working with Brian on the UX design for our platform was an awesome experience. What we were building had never been done before - there was no handbook or guide to follow, and yet, Brian was able to quickly grasp the vision, navigate the complexity, and guide us to a design that made this entirely new AI experience feel approachable and usable for our audience.
Throughout the design process Brian was a relentless advocate for the user, ensuring that every decision made would result in something intuitive and understandable. I was impressed with his grasp of the complexity of large, interconnected systems - and to immediately recognize how changes in one area would impact another.
It was a complete pleasure working with Brian, and I can’t recommend him highly enough for any AI project or otherwise."
